Jonah I. Garde

I am a writer, scholar, educator, facilitator, and organizer living in Vancouver, on the unceded territory of the ʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

My research interests include trans histories, archives, film and popular culture, affects, and memory. At the core of my work are questions about how we narrate the past, whose stories are remembered and whose are forgotten or erased, and what political imaginaries, transnational solidarities, and visions of collective futures these narratives inspire.

Through my research, teaching, and collaborative work, I seek to develop new ways of understanding trans histories that attend not only to archival evidence, but also to absence, affect, imagination, and the politics of historical knowledge.
